“Come in – Inside”

The “Come in – Inside” project is based on the creation of artworks that are primarily accessible to blind and partially sighted groups. As a joint venture of contemporary poets from Novi Sad and contemporary visual artists who are also represented on the local scene, artworks/installations were created whose formats are adapted and oriented towards inclusiveness.

The project is established by the collaboration of four poets and four visual artists, who based on a literary poem, created artistic installations/scenographies available for accessible tactile perception. In addition to artistic performances, the installations also contain audio recordings of authentic readings by the author of the songs that will be heard during the exhibition. In this way, the project combines poetic and visual forms, giving the audience more opportunities to understand the works.

The name of the project “Come in – Inside” indicates that the goal of the project is for the viewer to completely permeate the works, listening to the poets’ songs and perceiving with their tactile senses the micro-space of the created scenographies. Also, artists and poets “enter” each other in other art formats to reach a common solution or shift of the individual approach to work, towards inclusiveness, or to others.

In addition to the fact that this project is aimed at blind and partially sighted groups, it also aims to encourage artists, cultural workers, and institutions to present theater and stage art in innovative ways, which due to the format is mostly inaccessible to visually impaired people, and that, based on innovative ways of presenting inclusive works, the awareness of the need for more frequent projects of this type in the field of culture and art is spread.

The project is supported by the Novi Sad City Administration for Culture, in a public competition for co-financing cultural projects that contribute to increasing the accessibility of cultural content in 2023.
