The tactile art installation “Touch the Word (Tactile Scenographies)” is part of a project based on collaboration between the ReAktor Association, the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad (with students and professors from two undergraduate courses in Stage Architecture, Technique, and Design: “New Approaches to Space Design in Art and Culture” and “Stage Architecture – Architectural Space Design 2,” as well as a graduate student in Stage Architecture and Technique), the “Milan Petrović” School for Primary and Secondary Education, and poet Jelena Anđelovski. The project results in a tactile art installation and exhibition, primarily designed for the visually impaired, as part of the 69th edition of the Sterijino Pozorje accompanying program.
The project was carried out in three segments. Lectures on inclusive art, visual poetry, and universal design served as a foundation for developing students’ artistic ideas and considering spatial perception from the perspective of the visually impaired. In a workshop format, a joint literary work – a poem – was created, followed by a tactile installation based on the use of stage tools, primarily sound and tactile materials, as well as developing an active relationship with space and the audience. The final part involved designing the exhibit space according to universal design principles and showcasing the work at the 69th Sterijino Pozorje, in the lobby of the Novi Sad Theatre – Újvidéki Színház.
This project continues last year’s “Enter – Inside” project, developed in collaboration between the Reaktor Association and Sterijino Pozorje, aimed at connecting poetry, stage, and visual arts to create artistic content for the visually impaired and a broader audience.
